Consultancy Skills

Internal Consultancy Skills

A wide variety of people are finding that they need consultancy skills to carry out their enhanced roles. Typical groups include HR staff, change agents, internal auditors, internal consultants, IT consultants and facilitators.

We all have immense practical experience as internal consultants and are familiar with the particular issues that internal consultants face and experience in dealing with them.

Our workshops in this field are all designed to a clients particular requirements. Generally they are designed around training in five broad themes:

  • The Consultancy Process
The natural stages that effective consultancy work goes through and how to make it work.
  • Consulting skills
The consultancy and interpersonal skills to handle clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.
  • Managing Clients
Managing client expectations. Establishing credibility and trust with clients, and working with them and influencing them.
  • Managing the Project
Approaches and techniques for organising, planning and progressing consultancy projects.
  • Managing Change
Consulting to help the client to identify and manage change issues.

Clients include COI, Immigrations Service, and HMC&E.

To support such training, we have now developed our web-based Consultancy Skills Toolkit which can be accessed through the e-learning guides section, and which can be tailored to a client's particular needs.
